Finding My Starting Point: From Struggle to Real Change
There were actually two different times I really started working out in
my life. The first was back in 2004— I may have been “working out,” but
my lifestyle was so unhealthy that it didn’t make a difference. Real
change didn’t happen until 2017, when a new gym opened just five minutes
from my house. Suddenly, I had no excuse not to go.
I started with a free trial and a few classes. Before I knew it, I was
hooked—sometimes taking two, three, even four classes a day! It wasn’t
just about working out; it was about feeling alive and capable.
Becoming the Mentor I Needed: Helping Others Start Their Journey
Because I was there all the time, I got to know the instructors and
members. People started asking me which classes I liked and what
workouts I did. I was seeing results, and I realized how intimidating
the gym can feel for someone just starting out.
That’s when I decided: I wanted to help others start their journey, feel
confident, and fall in love with fitness—just like I had. That’s why I
became a Group Fitness Instructor and personal trainer.
Learning, Teaching, and Loving the Full Power of Fitness
I’ve been teaching ever since, earning multiple certifications and a
Program Specialist endorsement. I teach several class formats and train
numerous clients each week. What I’ve learned is that fitness isn’t just
about physical strength—it’s about your emotional and mental well-being
too
Movement makes your body stronger, yes—but it also makes your mind
stronger. You feel more capable, more confident, and more like yourself.
Starting Later, Thriving Now: Fitness in My 40s and Beyond
I was an older mom when I had my second son, and starting over in my 40s
wasn’t easy. Our bodies change as we age, and getting in shape feels
harder. But now, approaching 50, I’m in the best shape of my
life—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I realized something crucial: it’s never too late to start. You can
begin your journey at any age, no matter where you are now.
Tools and Mindset That Turn Passion into Progress
About a year and a half ago, I discovered Fanka leggings—and I was
hooked. I love the compression and support, and I wear them almost every
day. My current favorite? The Powerband Resistance leggings—they keep me
supported through every class and workout.
But gear is just part of the journey. The real key is mindset:
- Be patient. Progress takes time.
- Be persistent. Consistency is everything.
- Believe in yourself. You are worth the effort.
We live in a world full of quick fixes, but real change takes time. You
didn’t get unfit overnight—and you won’t get fit overnight either. Start
now, stay consistent, and never give up. You’re not too old. It’s never
too late. Your journey starts today.
